Building long-term relationships on the foundation of customer satisfaction since 1914.
The History of Bowerman
For over a century, the name "Bowerman" has been synonymous with quality and exceptional performance. Founded in 1914, the company then known as Bowerman Brothers, developed a reputation for excellence in the building industry.

Bowerman Brothers, Inc. was founded in 1914 in Rhode Island by Frederick E. Bowerman and his brother.
Bowerman Company quickly gained a reputation as a reliable contractor, with early projects including the Tockwotton Home for Aged Women in 1916. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Bowerman established strong partnerships with local companies such as Kenney Manufacturing Co. and Cranston Print Works, solidifying its reputation in industrial and commercial construction.
Leadership changed in 1966, with Frederick E. Bowerman, Jay Robert Wahlberg, and Harry Livezey becoming principal owners. Under their management, Bowerman developed a skilled in-house workforce and expanded its services. The company maintained a long-term relationship with Narragansett Brewing Company and took on projects for various clients.
In the 1970s, Bowerman partnered with A.T. Wall Company but faced challenges during the banking crisis of the 1980s, leading to layoffs and a shift from unionized to non-union labor. Despite these obstacles, Bowerman flourished, establishing Bowerman Properties in 1985.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, new leadership emerged, and the company expanded its portfolio, including projects for FM Global Research & Development Campus. In 2011, Colleen Titmas and Charles Morton became co-principals, and with subsequent retirements, leadership was transferred to Greg Post and Leo Hudon in 2020.
